Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at KreativeTraditions@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Yes, all of our items are handmade by me, Kris, right here in El Paso, TX. I personally source the wood from a local shop and use food-safe epoxy resin to create each piece.

The only items we don’t personally make are the Walrus Oil® products sold in our shop for caring for your items. However, Walrus Oil® is FDA-compliant for food contact surfaces and is proudly made in the USA.

All of our items are hand wash only and not dishwasher safe. Heat from the dishwasher will not only ruin your item but potentially your dishwasher as well.

Special care is required for your board to maintain its beauty. Please see the Care Instructions section for additional information on caring for your item.

 DO:

  • Hand wash only.
  • Use warm water and liquid dish soap.
  • Wash both sides.
  • Air dry.
  • Ensure both the top and bottom dry evenly to prevent warping.
  • Oil your board on a regular basis - we recommend oiling at least every month or when the wood feels dry to the touch.

DON'T:

  • Soak the board in a sink full of water.
  • Put the board in the dishwasher.
  • Put the board in the microwave.
  • Use the board as a hot plate.

Our products are made from natural wood, which can warp or twist if exposed to excessive water or if different parts of the wood dry unevenly. Wash your board promptly by hand and let it air dry evenly to avoid any issues.

For detailed proper care and maintenance, please visit our Care Instructions page.

Absolutely, we love creating custom pieces! We offer a wide range of epoxy colors and wood options to fit your unique style. Share your vision with us, and we’ll work closely with you to craft a one-of-a-kind piece that’s just what you’re looking for. Feel free to email us at KreativeTraditions@gmail.com with your ideas — we can’t wait to bring them to life!

Yes, we require a 50% deposit for all custom orders. This helps us get the materials we need and start designing your piece with the care it deserves. Since every custom item is made just for you, the deposit is non-refundable once we begin the process. Thanks so much for understanding — we’re excited to create something special for you!

The average lead time for a custom piece is usually 2-4 weeks, depending on materials and how many projects we’ve got in the queue. We do take custom orders during tax season (January through April), but we won’t start on them until after I’ve finished crunching numbers for taxes. And if you’re looking for a tax preparer too, don’t worry — I’ve got you covered! I’m a woodworking wizard and a tax pro. 😉 Check out famtax.com for all your tax needs. Reach out, and I’ll give you an exact timeline based on our schedule and materials.

For sure! We can engrave your item to make it extra special. Whether you’re looking for a detailed carving or a sleek laser design, we’ve got the tools to make it happen. Plus, if you want something really unique, we can even fill your custom carving with colorful epoxy. Reach out — we’d love to hear what you have in mind!

Cutting boards are made for everyday kitchen use — they’re solid wood and built to handle regular chopping, slicing, and dicing.

Charcuterie boards (also known as serving trays) are designed for presentation, not preparation. They’re meant to beautifully showcase ready-to-eat foods like cheeses, fruits, and meats. Many of our charcuterie boards feature a mix of wood and food-safe epoxy in unique designs, like river pours.

While the epoxy we use is completely food-safe, it’s not recommended to cut directly on it, as it can scratch easily and may release particles. You can cut on the wood portions if needed, but please keep in mind that knife marks could affect the appearance over time.

We don’t stain the wood. The only "color" added is from Walrus Oil® Cutting Board Oil and Wood Wax, which helps bring out the wood’s natural beauty. Any vibrant colors you see that aren’t epoxy are the natural hues of the wood — like padauk, which can be bright but may fade a bit over time.

If your board appears dry and isn't repelling water, follow these steps:

  1. Clean the board: Wash it with warm, soapy water and allow it to dry completely.
  2. Apply a conditioning oil: Use a food-safe cutting board oil, like Walrus Oil® Cutting Board Oil, to restore moisture and enhance water resistance.
  3. Let it absorb: Allow the oil to soak in for several hours or overnight.
  4. Wipe off excess: After the oil has absorbed, wipe away any excess with a clean cloth.
  5.  Use Board Wax: Apply a food-safe board wax, like Walrus Oil® Cutting Board Wax, for extra protection and water repellency.  Simply apply a thin layer of wax, let it dry for 15 minutes, then buff with a rag.

Regular conditioning will help maintain your board’s appearance and functionality.

All sales are final, but if you have an issue, please contact us right away. Each item is handmade with care, and while minor imperfections may occur, they shouldn't affect functionality.

For defects in material or workmanship, contact us at KreativeTraditions@gmail.com for preauthorization before returning. Returns must be in new condition and well-packaged, with return shipping costs covered by the customer. We are not responsible for damage caused by misuse or extreme temperatures/humidity.
